Baby Tags

Well, long time no see!!  Yes, I'm still here.  Just don't get to the computer very often.  My back, shoulders and neck just ache from carrying my son around, lifting of the wheelchair, and all the work that goes with having a six year old with a broken leg.  Poor kid.  He's in a proper cast and we're counting the days/weeks till it can come off.  Full-time carers (and part-time carers too) that do this all the time, you have my total admiration xx

I have been able to make a few projects, usually ones involving crochet or hand-stitching so I can sink into the couch and rest my aching body!  With a hot cuppa near by.  But of course, all these little gifts I'm making require packaging and presentation..... So I've started making a few little tags for my baby crochet beanies!

I've used my favourite baby stamp set .... Baby We've Grown, using the gorgeous little bunny image and sweet baby as the sentiment.  It's SO CUTE!!

I've stamped the images in Black and used my watercolour pencils to colour, and then washed over with my Aqua Painters, very lightly.  I love watercolour pencils, just a little bit of water and no pencil lines!!

I have then used my Scallop Tag punch to make the little tags, also rounding off the edges to make it look sweet.  Looking at them again, they're so cute!!

So here's what I used:
Stamps: Baby, We've Grown
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black
Papers: Crumb Cake CS
Accessories: Scallop Tag Punch, Aqua Painters, Whisper White Bakers Twine & Project Life corner punch & Watercolour pencils.

Short & Sweet

Eek!  It's been over two weeks since I last posted here on my blog.  I'm so sorry about that.  Life has been a bit chaotic since my six year old son broke his leg the other week and then I travelled (with my two other children) to my brother's wedding in beautiful Queenscliff in Victoria.  I'm back feeling like I've been hit with a whirlwind, a little bit exhausted but full of projects to share with you.

But for the moment, I wanted to share this Stampin' Up! Short & Sweet promotion.

Been thinking about joining Stampin' Up? Well, this is it! For one week only, you can get an extra $20 in your Starter Kit when you join.

The details:
For just one week only (and yes I've missed a few of these days already) starting 22 August, you will receive $255 worth of product (usually $235) in your Starter Kit for just $169.... And you don't even pay any shipping!

But act now, because this short and sweet deal only lasts until 29 August 2014!

Do you Project Life?

So I've shared a few posts here and there on this blog talking about the new Project Life range by Stampin' Up! in partnership with Becky Roberts.  You can see some of our Project Life range here.

So I don't do PL (what I affectionately call Project Life) in the traditional sense.  I have no system to my memory keeping.  I just pick photos of certain events or of my children, hope that I've got enough for a double layout and off I go.  So to help me, I have been participating in a Project Life or Pocket Scrapbooking online course for inspiration.  I can show you here this weekend's effort at making some of the pocket cards.  I look forward to sharing the whole page (well two page layout) when I have all the photos to put in (I needed a few more!!).

So I've used a mix of products to make these pocket cards.  These top three card bases come from the Project Life Dear Lizzy edition.  My first card uses a scrap of Sale-a-Bration paper from last year.  I've added a circle stamped with the Hardword stamp using Crumb Cake ink and sponged the edges too.  I've added staples and a little epoxy sticker from the Stampin' Up! Every Day Adventure accessories pack.

The second card I've left as is.  I just love it.  The third card, I've added my journalling with my **new** typewriter (well it's not new, it's a 1960s typewriter I bought on eBay the other week).  I then added a big sequin from my stash.

The first card in this series, is made with the Kinda Eclectic stamp set.  I've stamped the sun with Crushed Curry ink, the typeset letters with Crumb Cake ink and the little butterflies with Pool Party ink.  I've added a sticker for a sentiment.

The second card uses a strip of Stampin' Up!s Burlap Ribbon which I have added to the card with several rows of machine stitching.  I've added stickers to make the word - create.  My third card is a Shaker card.  I've used some stars, Stampin' Up!s new In Colour Sequin Assortment and a little wooden smiley face.  I've used a scrap of plastic to make the front and stitched it all together.  I  have to say these photos don't do these cards justice, as I'm really happy with how they turned out.  I look forward to sharing more of my PL with you!

xx

A few more thank you cards

So yesterday I shared one lot of my card designs I used as birthday thank yous, so today's project share is the final lot.  These are a little bit more subtle in design but just as pretty in my opinion!

I've used two colour palettes for these cards.  One in blues and one in pinks (but of course).  Each card is enhanced with the use of Smokey Slate as a contrast colour!

This card uses inks Bermuda Blue, Smokey Slate & Coastal Cabana.  Such a pretty colour combination.

The second combination uses Smokey Slate, Strawberry Slush and Blushing Bride.  Before I embossed the bottom half of the card, I used my Gorgeous Grunge stamps for background, also stamped in Smokey Slate.

I've made a few of each colour, noting each one is different as I tried to be as random as I could in the placement of my flowers!

I was inspired by a number of cards I saw on Pinterest, including this one by Chantal de Kaste.

So here's what I used:

Stamps: Gorgeous Grunge, Petite Petals & Happy Watercolour
Inks: Strawberry Slush, Blushing Bride, Bermuda Blue, Smokey Slate & Coastal Cabana
Papers: Whisper White & Smokey Slate CS
Accessories: Gems, glue dots and Petite Petals punch
Big Shot: Fancy Fan Embossing Folder

Work of Art

So, I'm still working through my must-haves (aka wish list) from the new Stampin' Up! catalogue.  And one of those must-haves was the Work of Art stamp set.  I've seen so many gorgeous cards out there in Pinterest and blogland, that I knew I wanted it too.  And luckily I earned myself a free stamp set (one of the perks of joining Stampin' Up!), so ordered it I did.

And when I had to make a stack of cards to send my friends and family, thank you cards for spoiling me on my birthday, well I knew I just had to use this set!

So for these cards, I was totally inspired by the work of Stamping with Sandi, so I got straight into it!

I used the new In Colors of Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon.  My butterflies and flowers were punched out from scraps of Baja Breeze CS (long retired but never forgotten!).

The swirl was from the Everything Eleanor stamp set and stamped in black (Memento ink). I've added little gems to the punch outs too.

I used Blackberry Bliss and Lost Lagoon for this card.  I stamped off the Lost Lagoon ink first onto a scrap of paper, as I didn't want the stamped image to be too dark.  The Blackberry Bliss ink shows beautifully the effect of ombre, by repeat stamping WITHOUT re-inking!

So here's what I used:
Stamps: Work of Art & Everything Eleanor
Papers: Whisper White & Lost Lagoon CS
Inks: Memento Black, Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon & Hello Honey
Accessories: Butterfly punch, Itty Bitty punch & gems.

If you follow the links through to Stamping with Sandi, there is also a downloadable PDF with instructions for these cards.  Excellent!
